303: You can Chose to Become More

The Art of Living Big | Subconscious | NLP | Mindset - A podcast by Betsy Pake

Betsy shares her thoughts on the idea that there is a point in time at which we can choose to become more. We always have control over our thoughts no matter the situation, and we can make the choices to break out of whatever situation we find ourselves in. It doesn’t have to be the way it is just because it’s been that way in the past. >>> Connect with Betsy on IG @betsypake TRANSCRIPT Welcome to the Art of Living big podcast. My name is Betsy pake. I’m an author, a speaker, and a trainer of NLP and hypnotherapy. And I’m focused on helping you understand and design your life with the power of the subconscious. This podcast is designed to help you think differently about what could be possible for your life. Now, let’s go live big. Hello, hi, hello fellow adventurers, welcome to today’s show. So I have a little bit of a different twist on things today. You know, I feel like typically, like I’ll have interviews, like I get some really good fun guests to share with you. And so many times I share, like lessons, right, like things that happen in the ordinary every day. And what I think the meanings can be an AI, we’re meaning making machines, right, we want to make meaning out of things. And so it always feels really good for me to be able to make meaning that serves me, right, because we have a choice, we can decide, am I going to choose to have the meaning be something that holds me back? Or am I going to choose to have this meaning of this thing that happened be something that actually propels me forward, something that makes me grow something that makes me become a little bit different. And you know, a lot of the work that I do in the world is really on people’s identity. You know, it’s that version of you, that piece of you, that is like how you identify yourself, not just the roles that you have not like, I’m a mom, or I’m a wife, or whatever it is, it’s it’s deeper than that. It’s like, I am a person who is confident I am a person who things always work out for. Right, I am one of the most luckiest people, I am a person who loves to loves a challenge, right? That’s an identity level concept of myself. And I know, and you’ve probably heard me talk about this, but I know that the way to create change in someone else, I’m saying, like, if someone comes to me for change, not me just trying to change like people around me. But I know that if someone comes to me, they want to create change, the fastest way to do that in the easiest way is to change who they think they are. Because typically, if there’s something that you want, that you’re not getting in this physical reality, it’s because there’s something about you, the way you view yourself deep down unconsciously, that says you’re not the kind of person who gets that thing. I mean, it’s it’s as simple as that. And as complex as you’d want it to be. This is how come when people change things, based on their environment, or change things based on their behavior. The changes don’t last. Soon, as soon as they’re not consciously thinking about it, their identity takes over and who they think they are, becomes what becomes prevalent in their decision making in their interactions with people and the micro expressions on their face, and how they’re viewing every situation in the stories that they’re telling themselves about every situation, the stories they tell themselves about themselves. And I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently, because I mentioned in a previous episode that my daughter was struggling, and you know, it’s part of growing up, it’s part of being human, it’s part of being human is struggling with things. And as I was talking to her,
