John was born in the Philippines and moved to Australia at 9 months old.  He shares how important family ties are in Philippino culture, and how his relationship with his parents and sister influenced how he communicates with people. At a young age, John learned how to speak with unspoken words, and how to pick up on facial expressions and gestures.
