Political Analysis: Coalition Governance in South Africa: Current Realities and Desired Futures

In our political analysis we talk to Dr Harlan Cloete, a research fellow in the Department of Public Administration and Management at the University of the Free State, who wrote an interesting opinion piece titled “Coalition Governance in South Africa: Current Realities and Desired Futures” in other words ‘Can coalition government be the answer that South Africa are looking for in our next elections?’. Dr Cloete writes “If we think a coalition government is the answer, we are making a big mistake. Such a government may even be more complex given the different egos demanding to be fed. Rather a Citizen Coalition (social solidarity) is needed, where citizens lead and the government follows.
