Political Analysis: Do coalition government require laws to govern them?

With coalition government being our new dawn, it seems we might be faced with coalition governments again in this upcoming elections and considering what's been happening in the metros with mayors being elected and removed maybe we need to consider placing new laws on how to govern the coalition governments that will be formed and seeing that this is not already in place maybe we need to seriously consider having them. We’ve seen what happened in the city of Tshwane and city of Joburg and what's currently happening in the city of Ekurhuleni, maybe some laws need to put in place to manage coalition so that political parties do not put us through a process where ordinary south africans suffer from lack of service delivery and Professor William Gumede is Founder and Executive Chairperson of the Democracy Works Foundation and Associate Professor, School of Governance, University of the Witwatersrand, wrote an interesting piece titled “Should new laws be on the cards to govern coalition governments?” and he joins us on Political Analysis for this discussion…See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
