Before the Covid-19 pandemic devastated the country, the number of employed persons in the country was at 16.4 million and with the recent STATS SA release the number has slightly increased to 16.7 million, which is higher than the 16.4 million recorded before COVID-19 hit us. The youth aged between 15 and 34 years old are the ones that are tremendously locked out of opportunities. This means 43.4% of the youth are unable to contribute meaningfully to the economy.
