Weird and Wonderful: The musical journey of acclaimed SA born soprano singer, Zandile Mzazi-Ramavhunga

The Aubrey Masango Show - A podcast by 702

Eastern Cape has gifted the country and the arts and culture industry with the sensational soprano opera musician, Zandile Ramavhunga nee Mzazi. Probably more widely known and celebrated abroad, Zandile hails from a musical family in Elliot, and has performed to the A-list audiences across the globe. Over and above getting recognition by local musical bodies, Zandile has won numerous competitions and awards for her musical genius in places such as Vienna, Germany, Italy and the USA. Zandile contends that despite coming from a musical family and having been fortunate to be introduced to oratorio music as a child, she still had to put in a lot of hard work. Her mother was the biggest influence for her hard work. She says “I worked hard, sacrificed, didn’t have a normal life growing up as a child and didn’t have time to go play with dolls or other girls. It was practice at home and practice at school”. Zandile will be showcasing her vocal prowess to audiences in Johannesburg during the month of September and she joins us to talk about her journey and her concert that will be taking place this Sunday.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
