Such experiences may include threats of harm and injury, humiliating and shaming events, and witnessing racial discrimination toward other POCI. Although similar to a posttraumatic stress disorder, racial trauma is unique in that it involves ongoing individual and collective injuries due to exposure and preexposure to race-based stress." Due to recent events and the overwhelming cases pertaining to police brutality and the loss of another African American, George Floyd, this episode is an honest and raw discussion about what racial trauma is, why it's significant to recent events, and how the 400 years of oppression and trauma has continued to thrive and cause harm to the African American community in 2020. From displacement to understanding the forms of trauma the community has endured, this episode provides information to understand recent events from a different perspective and provide ways to understand and support the #BlackLivesMatter movement.  Don't forget to like & share this podcast with your friends and family, and if you want to stay updated, fill free to follow my Instagram: @thebutterflyeffect_ or if you want to share your personal experiences, you can email me at [email protected]. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/queen-jeneve-gabrielle-szymoniak/support
