This week Michelle speaks with Jane Layton about her sustainable upcycled jewellery business, Kitsch2thecore. All of the Jewellery that Jane makes is sustainably sourced from reclaimed fabric and stainless steel. She sells her beautiful pieces on the popular vintage site Depop, so if you are looking for cute Christmas gifts this year be sure to browse the Kitsch2thecore's collection. We talk about Jane's part-time job as a care worker, she works with young adult care leavers and assists them with their daily activities and transitioning from a care home into their own homes. Jane shares her personal experiences of battling depression and anxiety, which so many of us can relate to. As millennials, we feel this pressure to meet unattainable standards that may be influenced by what we are viewing on social media and comparing ourselves with others. We chat about self-care and things that we can do to help ourselves get back into a better place mentally.  But now Jane is so much happier now she's working for herself and doing something that she loves. In her spare time, she enjoys face painting and doing make-up for family and friends, she especially enjoys making people feel good about themselves.  She is also a cool cat mum to adorable cats Uma and Lou, who have sweet and unique personalities. Jane also has a sweet dog called Ivy and her smallest and youngest cat Lou really loves spending time with her doggy brother.
