Will the Pirates add a big batter?

Jeff Passan had some high praise for the Pirates, saying they are the 2nd best team in the NL Central. He said they need to add a bat or two. With so many people realizing they need to make a move for a bat, including people like Passan, why have the Pirates not realized this?
