Simone Weil (1909–1943) was a French philosopher, mystic, and political activist known for her uncompromising commitment to justice and solidarity with the oppressed. A gifted thinker, Weil abandoned a comfortable academic career to work alongside factory laborers and join anti-fascist militias during the Spanish Civil War. Her radical empathy and belief that attention was the purest form of love shaped her philosophy, which continues to inspire activists, theologians, and philosophers.
