Today's prescription is for those that think rock is dead. It means one of two things, you're either listening to people who don't listen to rock OR you're listening to Maroon 5's Adam Levine who said... "It's funny, when the first Maroon 5 album came out there were still other bands. I feel like there aren't any bands anymore," he said. "That's the thing that makes me kind of sad, is that there were just bands. There's no bands anymore, and I feel like they're a dying breed.”- Adam Levine. That's right the man behind the hit songs "Unkiss Me," "Never Gonna Leave This Bed,” & of course "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Mother Fucker" has declared there are no bands anymore. I have 100 bands I want to tell you about but let's go with three to remind you rock bands are alive & well and maybe take a look outside of the states to hear some of the best of it. From Ireland & now living in London, "The Clockworks.” The man behind Creation Records who has championed everyone from Oasis to The Libertines said "The Clockworks are the best band to come out of Ireland since MBV." This one is called "Feels So Real" & it's a banger. Yard Act. Out of Leeds. NME said they are hilarious no wave-tinged bangers embracing political divides. Their single "Dark Days" sums up the last year nicely. Shame. From South London, their second full length "Drunk Tank Pink" just came out & when live shows start again, you are going to want to see them to prove to yourself that LIVE rock is also very much not dead. This one is called “Alphabet." There you have it, three songs that show you rock isn't dead. I'm working on a rock playlist on my Spotify page you can find me there & everywhere at djjohnrichards & Adam Levine, call me man, I'm here to help.
