In this episode, I am going to talk to you about the importance of confidence in communicating as a professional engineer. I will specifically be concentrating on three situations from three recent coaching interactions that I had with engineers. Engineering Quotes: Here are the key points discussed on the importance of confidence in communicating as a professional engineer: If I can help engineers with their self-esteem, confidence, communication skills and stress levels, they are just going to do better. When you have access to wisdom and experience, leverage it and see how you can utilize some of their knowledge for your own career path. Be confident and honest with your supervisors, but also ask them questions. Usually, if you can speak in public and you feel comfortable, you will do better in conversations. Get out there and start networking by going to events. Join a professional association as a board member as it will force you to be a leader and show up. Whenever you put yourself in a situation where you must show up, there’s a great opportunity for you to improve yourself. When you put together a good business plan, it gives you confidence, as you don’t feel like you are winging it. If you are trying to get a job, whether inside or out of your company, you have to satisfy their need. Do not hide. If you have the ability to hide, you are going to do it.
