Duncan Schwab, CEO & head winemaker Sandridge Barton – episode 26

The English Wine Diaries - A podcast by Rebecca Pitcairn

Categories:

Today my guest is Duncan Schwab, CEO and head-winemaker at Sandridge Barton in Devon. Duncan’s passion for growing grapes and making wine was first ignited when he helped plant his parent’s vineyard in Cornwall, in the early 1980s.  He joined Devon’s Sharpham Vineyard, which is also famed for its cheese, a decade later and has been involved with the award-winning estate for nearly 30 years, taking over the reins from Mark Sharman and overseeing the winery’s recent relocation further down the banks of the River Dart to Sandridge Barton in Stoke Gabriel. Sandridge Barton marks a new era for the Sharpham Wine brand with a state-of-the-art winery, visitor centre, café and accommodation due to open this spring. We talk about the challenges of the move down river and what's in store for the next four decades.
