We're back with the sixth series of The English Wine Diaries! On this week's episode, my guest is Tamara Roberts, CEO of Ridgeview Wine Estate in Ditchling, Sussex. Founded by Tamara’s parents, Mike and Chris Roberts in 1995, Ridgeview produces award-winning traditional method sparkling wines that are now sold across the globe, have been served at Buckingham Palace and are the official sparkling wine for all receptions at No. 10 Downing Street. Tamara took over as CEO of her family business when Mike sadly passed away in 2014 and has since overseen the growth of Ridgeview into a globally acclaimed business, producing around half a million bottles per annum. She is on the board of Wines GB, was awarded Sussex Businessperson of the Year in 2019 and was given the prestigious title of President of the International Wine and Spirit Association in 2020, the same year that Ridgeview celebrated its 25th anniversary.  2022 has been yet another busy year for Ridgeview with a new all-weather outdoor restaurant – The Rows and Vine – opening on the estate, a partnership with South Lodge hotel to plant and manage a new vineyard near Horsham and the business has recently achieved BCorp status. We talk about how Tamara came to run the family business, what it's like working with her siblings and extended family and her hopes and futures for the next 25 years of Ridgeview.
