Today's guest on The English Wine Diaries is Cindy-Marie Harvey, owner of private wine tour company, Love Wine Food, and author of the newly-released cookbook Watercress, Willow and Wine. Cindy-Marie’s career in wine began after she spent a year in Piemonte and discovered the local’s passion for ‘abbinamento’ – the Italian name for food and wine pairing. She fell in love with the area so much, she ended up staying for five years. When she returned to the UK, she became a wine importer and then spent the next 20 years planning, organising and escorting wine and food tours around the globe, getting to know some of the most fascinating wine makers in the world.Back home in Petersfield, and surrounded by bookshelves full of recipe books in a host of different languages, Cindy-Marie is never happier than when planning menus, discovering new grape varieties or producers, and matching them with traditional regional recipes or local produce reinvented with a modern twist. The pandemic led her to explore more closely the many vineyards popping up on her doorstep in Hampshire and West Sussex, and write a book based on her findings. Published by Whitefox, Watercress Willow and Wine is a beautifully illustrated celebration of recipes and wines from English vineyards and is available in all good bookshops RRP £25.
