The English Wine Diaries - A podcast by Rebecca Pitcairn

Categories:

On this week's episode of The English Wine Diaries, I am joined by Sam Linter, managing director and head winemaker at Bolney Wine Estate in Sussex.Sam’s parents, Janet and Rodney Pratt, founded the vineyard in 1972, at which time Bolney Wine Estate was one of the first commercial vineyards in England and Sam spent her childhood living on the vineyard, joining the family business in 1995. Since then she has led the estate to win numerous awards including the IWSC UK Wine Producer of the Year’ and ‘Winery of the Year’ at the UK Wine Awards, plus numerous gold medals for both its wines and cellar door experience.  Sam has also been an integral influence in the success of the English wine industry through her involvement in both the South East and UK Vineyard Associations and last September she became chairman of Wine GB. We talk about what it was like growing up on a vineyard, why she never thought she would be the one to take over the family business and her hopes for the future of the English wine industry.
