Trials: Jealousy, Leprosy, Dishonesty, and Genocide (Numbers)

The Faithful Feminists Podcast - A podcast by thefaithfulfeminists - Mondays

"The manual highlights its chosen chapters with headings like “Speaking against the Lord’s prophet offends the Lord,” and “Moses was very meek.” And while this is all fine and well when we only read 9 cherry-picked chapters from the book of Numbers, these headings only make sense in context of those chapters and not the rest of the book. There are more women named in the book of Numbers besides Miriam, and thousands more implicated by the events in its pages, and yet, we know none of them. Even just this week, we asked each other, how did we not know about these stories before? How come this is the first time? And that is a question worth asking again and again. How did I not know? Why did I not know?" Join us this week as we cover the entire book of Numbers in this episode by focusing on the portions of the text relevant to the feminist reader.
