Jeff Hathhorn, Kazee suspension, Tomlin on 'September players"

The Fan Morning Show - A podcast by Audacy - Fridays

Hour 2: Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff thinks the Wild somewhat owed it to Marc-Andre Fleury to play against the Penguins Monday. Mason Rudolph will get a chance and has handled this situation very well for external observers. The Bengals and Browns are being aggressive with their backups. Joe Flacco threw for more yards in a quarter than some Steelers quarterbacks total in a game! Backups need to be held to the same standard in December. Mike Tomlin said they can't make December calls with September players. The defense has new guys playing who are giving Tomlin this reason. Is it an excuse? The approach this season is way too calculated for Dorin. Go play. Everyone is playing two deep safeties and not allowing big plays. The problems continue at quarterback for the Steelers. Damontae Kazee was suspended for the remainder of the season after his hit on Michael Pittman and repeated violations. Dorin thinks he should get the benefit of the doubt with what Kazee was trying to do and avoid the hit. The suspension is harsh. Crowley thinks they got it right by the letter of the law. Calls and suspensions almost always go against the defensive player. Kazee should have been penalized, but the suspension seems intense. The quarterback should also be partly at fault for throwing a bad pass. These types of players are intensified every year.
