Rudolph to start Saturday, Pirates sign Martin Perez, Pens win against Wild

The Fan Morning Show - A podcast by Audacy - Fridays

Hour 1: Mason Rudolph will start for the Steelers Saturday against Cincinnati. Mitch Trubisky has thrown five interceptions in 100 attempts. He turns the ball over way too much and doesn't provide enough upside. The Steelers are designed a certain way to run the ball and play defense. Rudolph is not good under pressure, so he has to get the ball away. Tomlin is leaving the light on for Kenny Pickett. He's probably going to be the quarterback in 2024 and don't want him to get hurt again by rushing him back to play.  Pickett does the job of not turning the ball over better than Trubisky, who could never play and see the field again. Players on this offense are not getting better. The Pirates signed Martin Perez to a one-year deal worth $8 million. Perez won the World Series with Texas and was an All Star in 2022. The Pirates are also interested in Sean Manaea. Starting pitching is clearly a need for the Bucs and still need more to pair with Keller and Paul Skenes a few months into the season. The Penguins defeated the Wild 4-3 and Marc-Andre Fleury did not play in what could be his final trip to Pittsburgh as a player. Crowley doesn't have a problem with it but Dorin thinks, as a Hall of Famer, Fleury should have played.
