Audrey Prosper Is Changing The Conversation About Domestic Violence

The FOX True Crime Podcast w/ Emily Compagno - A podcast by Fox Audio Network

After surviving a vicious attack by a loved one, how do you put the pieces of your life back together? In 2009, Audrey Prosper was in the process of separating from her estranged husband, when one day, her life would change forever. As Audrey entered her home, her husband tried to sexually assault her, and then beat her with a hammer, and set her on fire. The attempt to take her life put Audrey in a coma for six weeks and left her with burns covering 80% of her body. Founder and CEO of National Domestic Violence Collaborative Audrey Prosper shares the story of her attack, the events that led up to it, and her recovery that followed. Later, she discusses how she advocates for survivors and works to change the conversation surrounding domestic violence in order to address the roots of the issue. In 2022, Audrey Prosper was awarded the Purple Ribbon Award for Survivor of the Year. As CEO of the NDVC, she works to provide the support needed for survivors to heal from their abuse and reduce the number of people affected by domestic violence each year.
