Medical Examiner Dr. Cross interviews Roger Thornhill.“What is your name?” asks Dr. Cross.“Roger Thornhill,” replies Roger. “Stick out your tongue, and say ‘Aah’,” says Dr. Cross. “You’d better move back,” replies Roger. “Aaaaaah.”“Have you been drinking?” asks Dr. Cross.“Doctor, I am gassed,” replies Thornhill.“What were you drinking?” asks Dr. Cross.“Well, Bourbon,” says Thornhill. “These two fellas, they,  and another —““How much would you say that you drank?” asks Dr. Cross.“What did you say?” asks Roger.“How much would you say that you drank?” repeats Dr. Cross.Roger holds his hands at arms’ length. “Oh, about this much,” says Roger. “Mister Thornhill, ” says Dr. Cross, “It is my opinion that you are definitely intoxicated, and I’m now going to have to-“Roger climbs up on the interview table to lay down.  “There’s no question I’m stinkin’,” says Roger as he puts his head on the table. “…and I’m now going to ask your permission to draw blood,” continues the doctor.“How disgusting!” mumbles Roger, now supine on the table. “You, uh,  may refuse to permit a blood test to be made,” says the doctor, “but if you do refuse, your license will be revoked. You have the right to notify a physician of your own choosing…”The scene dissolves to the hearing the follow morning. Roger’s attorney is making a plea in defense of his client. “It was at this point,” says the attorney, “that Mister Thornhill succeeded in escaping  from his would-be assassins, and when they gave chase, he naturally had to drive as best he could, under the, uh, circumstances.”“Counselor,” asks the judge, “How long have you known your client?”“Seven years, Your Honor,” replies the attorney.“Do you know him to be a reasonable man?” asks the judge.“Absolutely,” replies the attorney.  Roger’s mom guffaws loudly.“Mother!” snaps Roger.
