129: Men as Providers and Women Workers with Rebekah Hargraves (Solo Episode 14)

On today's solo podcast episode, I am taking to the show to talk all about the common idea that only men are created by God to be financial providers. We're going to allow Scripture to interpret Scripture as we do a survey of God's Word to discover God's true design for men and women and to see what He has to say about women working to provide for their families, as well as the call to manage our homes well.  What I Chat about in Today's Episode: ~The difference between merely appreciating a God-given gift (such as our husbands providing financially for us) and making that gift into the very foundation for our understanding of the roles men and women are to take  ~God's design for men and women at the very beginning and how both men and women are tasked with the responsibility to work ~Answering the most common objections to the idea that it is not only men who are called to provide - the first being that Titus 2:5 somehow says women cannot be providers but instead always remain at home, and the second being that 1 Timothy 5:8 says that only men are to provide ~How the context of 1 Timothy 5 shows that women are called to financially provide, as well ~Specific examples of women in the Word working to provide financially for their families and others - namely, Ruth, Lydia, the Proverbs 31 woman, the women of Luke 8:3, the women in 1 Timothy 5 ~The reality that both men and women are tasked with the responsibility to manage their homes well ~And more!
