Abstract or Figurative? The Representation of AI in the Car

Artificial intelligence is omnipresent. It is an integral part of many applications that we use every day: search engines, online shops, social media. The danger of singularity, i.e. the displacement of humans by ever more intelligent machines, is discussed again and again. If the use of AI is always displayed in HMIs, users can decide for themselves how to deal with the information and decisions of the AI. As part of the KARLI project, I analyzed how AI can be represented in automotive HMIs.
