98. Understanding Blockchain Technology, with Alex Tapscott

Understanding blockchain technology is the focus of this episode of the podcast. We start with an introduction to blockchain technology before talking about why it just may represent the internet 2.0, or "the internet of value." We also talk about why blockchain is a technology that companies not just in the financial services space but in a wide variety of industries should be evaluating to see how it will impact their business. Alex Tapscott joins us for this week's episode of the podcast to talk about those topics and more. His just-released book, Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business, and the World, looks at blockchain in-depth. It is co-written with best-selling author Don Tapscott and is based on interviews with a wide range of technology pioneers that includes Marc Andreesen, Tim Berners-Lee, and Vint Cerf, among others. Alex is the CEO and founder of Northwest Passage Ventures, an advisory firm that builds blockchain companies. In 2014, Alex wrote the seminal report on governing digital currencies for the Global Solutions Network program at the Joseph L.
