We kick off our second annual Indian Cinema Month with a look at a film centered on a high-stakes game of cricket between the colonial British and rural Indians: Lagaan. Starring charismatic lead Aamir Khan as Bhuvan, he wagers three years of grain taxes on a game of cricket against the occupying Brits. Its sports meets musical in this epic that succeeds most of the time but makes some truly mindboggling decisions.
