Although the Eurovision Song Contest is being held in the UK this year, it’s important to remember that the 2023 event really belongs to the people of Ukraine.Last year, Kalush Orchestra won the competition with their song Stefania. The victory signalled a show of solidarity across Europe. Now in 2023, the Russia-Ukraine war is still unfolding, but ever resilient, Ukrainians are preparing to celebrate their achievement and compete once again in this year’s Eurovision. The award-winning singer, philanthropist and presenter, Tina Karol, who will be performing as a part of the grand final in the Eurovision Flag Parade, speaks to us from Kyiv, in between rehearsals. She explains how the country is coping as the war intensifies again, her mission to be a cultural ambassador and just what this year’s contest means to Ukraine. Hosted on Acast.
