Surviving & Thriving

In this week’s podcast episode, I am discussing the highly relevant topic of Surviving & Thriving in your landscaping and garden design business. With all the fear around rising fuel costs and cost of living I wanted to try and bring it down a notch with 5 things you can do to not only survive but thrive in a crisis. The 5 things are: Cashflow - creating and maintaining a cashflow forecast really is the key to ensuring your business will survive AND it is a great way to see what will make big impacts on the cash! Review regularly - reviewing not only the finances in the business but the marketing numbers i.e. leads, sales, conversion rates are the best way to see if you are really experiencing a downturn or not and what works. Don’t stop marketing - marketing creates leads and drives sales. Without it you don’t have a business. Marketing is often the first thing to go when in a crisis, my advice is review and then double down on what is working the best for your garden design or landscaping business. Keep or get a business coach - again often seen as an overhead that is first to be cut I would urge you to keep your coach. They are your biggest cheerleaders and will often see things from a different perspective as they are not in your business. They are there to support and guide you and we all know who you hang around with matters in business. It is also lonely so surrounding yourself with the right people is definitely the way to thrive. Mindset - get and keep your mind in the game. A constant activity to do as a business owner is keeping your mind in the right place. Level up your energy and you will level up your business and your life. Simple. Except it is one of the hardest things to do. My tip is to be consistent and utilise whatever mindset activities work for you - practicing gratitude, journalling, affirmations, visualisations, meditation, vision board, uplifting playlist, working out…the list is long but we often neglect it, make it a part of your daily routine and raise your vibrations ;) We are now just about ready to welcome in the next cohort of students for our From The Ground Up course - perfect if you are starting or have just started your own landscaping or garden design business.
