For many years, parentcraft and preparation for childbirth and early parenting has been delivered face to face – utilising a group approach, with some controversy that it does not always meet all womens/parents needs, and that some women who need it might not access it. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, midwives had to think of different ways to support women preparing them for their pregnancy and childbirth journey, and ensure they were informed and confident. Many aspects of care moved online... including parentcraft. In this session we explore whether this is a good way to provide antenatal education and preparation; is this going to be a service that we continue to provide in this way? How do the midwives feel, and how do the mothers and parents feel? From these two skilled midwives you will learn some tips and ideas for making learning engaging and relevant.
