The rapid growth of Compound Protocol and the launch of the COMP governance token sparked enormous growth in the entire category of decentralized protocols for financial market infrastructure.  A year ago there was just $800M in value locked in DeFi smart contracts, and today has mushroomed to over $23B.  But this is just the start of mega-trend that will eventually upend multi trillion dollar capital markets.
