Rand hits strongest level in 2024 as dollar wilts

Thanks to fresh hope that US interest rates will be cut, the rand has risen to its highest levels in 2024. Thursday, just before noon, saw the currency trade at R18.20/$, which is about its highest point vs the US dollar this year.
