#33 The dark night of the soul

The Mothering Myself Podcast - A podcast by Susan Kinahan

Have you experienced the dark night of the soul? Are you familiar with the concept? In this episode we uncover what the dark night of the soul feels like and how this experience, in its enormity, catalyzes our spiritual awakening. We consider how the dark night of the soul propels us into our authenticity. Throughout this conversation we consider how we each enter the world with unique gems that quickly become our buried treasure. We spend a majority of our lives identifying and drooling over the gold in others, and not realizing that we, too, are in possession of our own rare and potent gifts. In this episode we visualize our quest to become what it is we see, only to get lost in our search. How do we stumble upon our own self-serving direction? The 'dark night of the soul' is a monumental and pivotal moment (or time period!) in our lives. As we navigate this journey we consider the spiritual growth this experience inspires. And, we remember again and again that we each are both the creator and experiencer of our journey throughout this lifetime. Moving beyond this experience does not mean we will never again experience more challenges and difficulties, but enables us to surrender to what comes rather than to resist what is.
