#44 Meeting ourselves as we are + learning how to listen to our children w/Jessica Dixon Majka

The Mothering Myself Podcast - A podcast by Susan Kinahan

This week we talk about following our curiosity for life with Jessica Dixon Majka, traveler, artist, Mom + entrepreneur. Jessica and her husband decided to leave NYC after 20 years with their 18 month old and hop in their 1976 VW bus to live on the road. They have spent the past year traveling around the United States with their toddler during a pandemic and defying the 'norms' of parenthood.  Jessica speaks about her affinity for and ease of connection with children long before she became a biological mother herself. She reminds us of the necessity to really tune into our children and listen to what they're telling us that they may be unable to articulate. In addition, Jessica shares what she is learning on the road from her 2 year old and how she has been surprised by her own reactions despite a solid mindfulness practice for over a decade. I love this conversation because we speak to the reclamation of the wild child and we are invited to ask questions about ourselves and our choices with so much love.
