#8 How do we learn to trust ourselves?

When do we learn to trust ourselves? DO we learn to trust ourselves? We’re always looking to trust people in our lives - our parents, caregivers, teachers, friends, etc. and we do not necessarily critically examine who it is we trust and why. We are unconsciously interpreting the world based on other’s perceptions before we can critically examine our own, and by the time we can critically examine our world, we have bought in to the reality that another has defined for us. In this process we learn to trust in others before we trust in ourselves. How do we empower our children to trust themselves beginning in early childhood? How can we calm our anxieties regarding our children’s lives so that we do not interfere in their process of figuring things out? How can we trust that everything is happening for us rather than to us so we can learn from our experiences rather than feeling like we are victims? In this episode, an authentic sharing in the way of a poem comes from a 15-year old version of Susan who shares her desire to hide from her world, followed by a 30-year old version who speaks to liberating herself. Plus, we hear from Wendy who examines what it means to ‘mother myself’, from Richmond, VA. Website: www.motheringmyself.com Instagram: @motheringmyselfpodcast
