Hello and welcome to The Movie Robcast. This is our penultimate London Film Festival wrap-up episode, and it’s a bumper one. At 2:55 we review the new Benedict Cumberbatch film The Power of the Dog. At 11.20 we give our thoughts on the Cannes award winning and hard-hitting drama Nitram. At 20.05 Rob Wallis reviews Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut The Lost Daughter, starring Olivia Colman and Jesse Buckley. At 22.00 Rob Daniel tries to describe Dashcam, the outrageous new horror movie from Rob Savage, who splashed onto the scene last with the excellent frightener Host. Back to Rob W at 25.40 for Terence Davies’ new movie Benediction, starring Jack Lowden and Peter Calpadi. Sticking with Rob W, at 27.55 he discusses Petite Maman, directed by Celine Sciamma, who previously made Portrait of a Lady on Fire. At 29.55 both Robs have fun reviewing Paul Verhoeven’s wonderful nunsploitation movie Benedetta. Finally, at 35.00 the podcasting duo warm their hearts recounting King Richard, the film about Serene and Venus Williams’ father that we think is going to nab Smith that Best Actor Oscar. Oh, we all give a quick review of Halloween Kills at 10.50. Spoiler: it’s total rubbish. Phew! It’s a bumper, mixed bag then. We hope you enjoy, and we’ll see you next time for the final LFF episode, in which we’ll look at Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.
