Alicia helps parents help their children with anxiety, fears and phobias, thumb-sucking, nail-biting, bedwetting, fussy eating and sleep problems. Alicia is the author of four books: Words that work Fix your life with NLP Stop bedwetting in 7 days (Yes, just 7!) and most recently First aid for Your Child’s Mind which outlines simple steps to soothe children’s anxiety, fears and worries Alicia had strong childhood experiences of anxiety given that her parents had both survived traumatic experiences during the war and as a result were extremely protective of Alicia and her sister. The refrain of her childhood was about how to avoid danger and to be prepared. She became all too aware of how restrictive and inconvenient life can be when one is ruled by fear. Listen to this episode with Alicia Eaton if you want to learn: About how words can really impact on children for life. How to get over phobias, using hypnosis and desensitisation techniques. The difference between ‘having’ anxiety and ‘doing’ anxiety and how that distinction can give one power. How contagious anxiety can be. Parents worry about this a lot but Alicia emphasises how parents can change their words to change their child’s experience. Some reasons for the well-observed increase in anxiety which might surprise you, including some aspects of diet and environment. How anxiety is different from normal worries and fear. What not to say to or do with kids who are feeling anxious! And what words work better.
