EP 09 - 12 Tips to Combat Sibling Rivalry
The Parent & Teen Toolbox - A podcast by Cai Graham - Tuesdays

In this episode, I am giving you some pointers on how to Combat Sibling Rivalry. You’ll never be able to stop the quarrels and the arguments between the kids - and nor should you. Sibling Rivalry is a natural way for your child to learn what is acceptable behavior (and what’s not) - and how best to connect with people.
Home is a safe environment for your child to learn the unwritten rules of relationships.
My 12 Pointers are :
1. Remove Your Own Emotions & Ego - Your feelings don’t come into this!
2. No Favourites - This upsets the already fragile balance.
3. Be Fair - You don’t have to be equal.
4. Avoid Comparisons & Labels - These can have a lasting effect.
5. Spot the Triggers - To help diffuse explosive situations before they happen.
6. Group Family Fun - Make time to be Together.
7. Spend 1-2-1 time with each child - They NEED your attention.
8. Observe the Conflict - Pick Your Battles.
9. Have a Family Pow-Wow - Where everyone has a voice.
10. Manage Expectations - So everyone understands the boundaries.
11. Intervene if Necessary - This goes without saying.
12. Act as a Team - Be one another’s role models.
