Getting a PCOS diagnosis is one thing, but understanding that root cause and knowing what testing to do to look for that is a whole other thing! I’ve had more women than I can count tell me that it took them multiple doctors to even get a PCOS diagnosis and then when they finally did, they were told there’s nothing you can do but a) get on the pill and come back when you want to get pregnant and b) lose weight. And for some women, who had lean PCOS, once they finally got a diagnosis they were pretty much told well you kinda just have to deal with it. UGH! Let me tell you now that you really don’t. Today’s mini podcast is all about this diagnosis and testing around PCOS. What is the actual process of getting a PCOS diagnosis? I’ve been told I have high testosterone - why and what does that mean? What are androgens? What if my lab results showed that I have low testosterone - can I still have PCOS? Have you been properly diagnosed? What are other conditions that look similar to PCOS in their symptomatic presentation but aren’t actually PCOS?I’m going to answer all of these questions and more in this MINI PCOS POD. I do these podcasts every week where I put a question box out on instagram and open the floor to you all! But because I’ve had so many questions related to the actual diagnosis component of PCOS and it’s something I’ve haven’t spoken a whole lot about - I’ve gone more into symptoms - so I thought it was really important to cover off. This episode is for you if:You’ve just been diagnosed with PCOSYou think you might have PCOS but you’re not sureYou’re not sure if your period is considered irregularYou’re not getting your cycles but you don’t fit the rest of the PCOS (Rotterdam) CriteriaSome things we cover in this episode:The Rotterdam Criteria - what is it and how does work? How doctors will diagnose you with PCOSWhether it’s PCOS or Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (AH)How to tell if you’re actually getting a period or it’s inter-menstrual bleedingWhy ovulation kits are a waste of money for women with PCOSRelevant Episodes:Season 1 Episode 1: Treating the root causeLinks to our programs:The PCOS ProtocolEggducated
