"It was a constant battle every step of the way" says Britta about aspects of her pregnancy. All birth stories are special and all babies are miracles, but this one is that little bit extra special and is quite the positive birth story simply by the fact that Bette is here with Britta and Ritchie, healthy and happy. In this episode we talk about the rollercoaster ride of emotions to conception, the diagnosis of premature ovarian failure, how Britta was given just  a 2-3% chance of conceiving through IUI. Then there is the pregnancy , which was great until …… the monitoring and the twice weekly visits to the hospital for growth scans. Britta shares her experience of the medical system, why she needed to stand up and speak up for herself and the different obstetricians and procedures. There’s the trip to Sydney late in her pregnancy (for fun and wait 'til you hear what one obstetrician thought of that), then the exceptionally long, slow on and off induction process, which turns out to have a silver lining. Yes, it was a constant battle every step of the way but this fight, the tools, the learning, the strength has now given Britta so much confidence to take forward in her role as a mother - which is truly valuable. This is a story of resilience, of listening to instincts, intuition and a story where we wish the doctors could have said “it all might just work out all ok."
