Dani's birth to Matilda at Queenstown birthing unit

Dani was so happy to be pregnant but would cry when she had to think about birthing as she was so afraid of birth. She had a lot of fear about fear about the unknown pain – whether she would be able to handle it or not. Located in Queenstown it’s not always straightforward as to where to decide to birth - Dani wanted to birth at a hospital with doctors but this meant a 3-4 hour trip to Invercargill or Dunedin hospital. But if she stayed in Queenstown at the birthing unit and then needed any interventions she would be airlifted out and would have to be separated from her partner. It felt like there were no good options for her. When she found the Positive Births hypnobirthing course everything started to change for her. Dani did the work and by the end of her pregnancy was able to fully trust and believe in herself, her confidence had increased so much and her thoughts had totally turned around. Dani shares her very straightforward birth experience of baby Matilda and how she is so incredibly proud of herself. If you too are fearful of birth and would like to change the way you think and feel, then reach out to Helen at www.positivebirths.co.nz to find out how the Positive Births courses can support you too, to feel calm, confident and empowered for your birth.
