This Episode’s Heavy-hitter’s: A major motivation for Connie to leave her job in corporate America was being more present for her family. She made a gameplan with her husband, and the rest is history. One recommendation that she makes for people that are trying to transition into entrepreneurship is to line up your network and how you’re going to outreach to people beforehand. Whether it’s finding clients, gaining mentors, or just seeking general advice– it takes a village to build a strong business. Connie’s inspiration for writing her book came from speaking to amazing people on her podcast. She noticed a huge macro trend of people in a state of “career mashup” and decided that she needed to document it. We also discuss the benefits of the fluidity that comes with a mashed up career. More and more positions need candidates who have experience across a variety of disciplines, driving a preference in some of these positions for well-rounded candidates.
