The Rest Is...Running An Agency (With Laura West)

This week, Jacki and Lyle are joined by the absolutely wonderful Laura West. Laura is the founder and one of the advisors at Agencywise, a platform where agency owners can meet, network with and learn from fellow professionals, whilst also getting access to experts from the likes of finance, law and the economy. She has over 20 years of experience in the PR and Marketing industry, with a particular focus on helping agency founders grow and scale their businesses. Laura is certified in Agile and Change Management, and has used these skills to assist her clients in the running of their agencies. She also runs several initiatives that support and connect agency founders, such as Collaboration Club and Mentor Me. In a wide-ranging and energetic episode, Laura and Jacki swap stories about parenting their teenage sons during the Covid lockdown, and Laura discusses how a frustration with continually explaining the perennial changes within the PR industry to her clients led to her returning from a career break in an advisory role instead of as an agency lead as she had done in the past! Lyle talks to Laura about the pride she has taken in establishing a close-knit community of agency founders through the creation of Agencywise, and how the creation of this platform was predominantly inspired by wanting to provide the help and support she wished she had herself when she was running her own agency.
