If you look up Matt Fraction, you will find a bio that sounds a little like this: Matt Fraction writer of: (writer): SEX CRIMINALS (Image), Jimmy Olsen (DC), CASANOVA (Image), HAWKEYE (Marvel), and NOVEMBER (Image) writes comic books out in the woods and lives with his wife, the writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, his two children, two dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon, and a yard full of coyotes and stags. Surely there is a metaphor there. In all seriousness, he is an award winning (Eisner, Harvey, PEN USA Literary Award for Graphic Novels and New York Times bestselling writer. He was also named TIME Magazine’s Best Comic of 2013. As you know I love comics and have featured a lot of comic writers and artists on my show this year. It might have something to do with my performance at San Diego Comic Con in July, but mostly it has to do with the fact that the comic creators I have interviewed are interesting, intelligent, and informative. I learn so much through these conversations, beyond the comic book process. Today, Matt and I discuss the importance of hard work and how his life is reflected in his writing through the years. You can check out all of Matt’s ongoing work on his website Milkfed Criminal Masterminds – but also just google his name for the plethora of work he has written.
