160. Empathy to understand racism

I’ve been saddened by the events surrounding the murder of George Floyd.  I have had past episodes on this podcast on law enforcement and black lives matter.  I’ve also had discussions with law enforcement leaders on how we can bridge the gap between community and law enforcement. Oscar and I sit down today to reflect upon the protests happening around the world due to the murder of George Floyd by a police officer. I asked him to share a little about his upbringing to give us a look at what his experiences were like growing up in a very poor area in Brooklyn, New York.  We wanted to explore how perhaps experiences shape the mind of an individual and how that manifests into society. I try to take every opportunity I have to be grateful for the privileges that I have in my life.  I feel if we can all empathize and be kind to one another, the world truly would be a better place.
