[NEW EDIT 10:00AM] Mimi and Greg Show on Mulan conflict and losing Chadwick Boseman. In this episode, Greg and I mourn the loss of Chadwick Boseman and naturally talk a little about politics. We also discuss a conflict I am having over Disney’s live-action movie Mulan. While I have a personal connection to the character and story, it has been a point of contention with me of late. Like many other fans, I was excited for the film when it was announced. Reminiscing about modeling for the animated film brought back a great deal of nostalgia. However, a shadow has been cast on the film since last year when the lead actress, Yifei Liu, sided with the Hong Kong Police amidst the pro-democracy protests. It’s been a rough week, and I am grateful that I have these conversations with Greg Rucka to vent, unwind, and contemplate the meaning of life. Our next book club choice is Greg’s very own Atticus Kodiak novels. We are reading Critical Space, Patriot Acts, and The Walking Dead and would love some listener questions for our future episode. For those that don’t already know: Greg Rucka is a New York Times bestselling author of hundreds of comics and nearly two dozen novels. He is also the writer for the hit film The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron. I’m loving these conversations and hope you are too. If you are, please rate my podcast on your platform of choice!
