Owen Everard James is a family friend we know through the Jamaican community.  He has been a teacher, civil servant, banker and worked for nearly thirty years as a manufacturing executive with a Fortune 500 American multi-national corporation. He has lived and worked in the Caribbean, Canada, the United States, and East and Southern Africa. Owen and I discuss the old days of Jamaica, to the conflicts the country faces today.  He has authored two books about Jamaica and his experiences around the world.  We discuss why he chose American citizenship, how he chooses to remember his Jamaican identity, and the challenges black Americans face in a post-Obama America.
