122. James Hong on working in tv and films

The Sifu Mimi Chan Show - A podcast by Mimi Chan - Tuesdays

I feel fortunate that James Hong took time to interview with me today. He is an actor who has starred in over 500 film and tv roles during his 60+ year career. At age 90, he isn’t slowing down. It was great to have a little Mulan reunion with James, as we discussed our thoughts on the upcoming live-action film. James shared his stories on Hollywood through the years, and the challenges Asian Americans face in cinema. He is hopeful for the future after the success of Crazy Rich Asians, however, still feels we have a long way to go. James is most notorious for his role in Big Trouble in Little China as David Lopan, and I could not conduct the interview without picking his brain about the film. He shared some fun behind the scene moments and even did some impressions. If you are a fan of James Hong, like I am, you will enjoy our conversation. I am so inspired that at 90 years old, James is busier than me! I learned so much from my discussion with James. We share the same philosophies on following your dreams and always fighting for what you believe in. I humbly request you help keep this podcast going by rating it, sharing it, or donating to it.
