What's the greatest album of all time, and should a compilation album qualify? We've gone over that refrain many times in our Sound Logic journey, yet here we are again, talking about another compilation album. This is a massive collection (Grammy winning!) of James Brown hit music - almost five hours, covering more than 70 tracks! We're here to talk about Star Time, #54 on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of the greatest albums of all time. In the episode we reference the accompanying essay from incredible RS500 essay project (check it out at this link) from our friend Brad Efford (guest on our review of Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica, and then he came back to help us process the new 2020 list). We would also encourage you to revisit our conversation with Joe Bowie, back when we reviewed James Brown's Live at the Apollo. Joe offered us such an incredible perspective in having played and toured alongside James Brown. As a reminder, you can find our favorite songs from the RS500 on our Spotify playlist right here - we'll be updating it as we go with our favorite songs from each album! You can check out Rolling Stone's new 2020 list right here. We'd love it if you would review us in your favorite podcast app, and while you're at it, give us a like on our Facebook Page or Instagram, follow us on Twitter, and send us a message if you have any comments or questions.
