There has been a recent string of murder-suicides in the news since the new year. Domestic violence has been dubbed the "Shadow Pandemic" and is giving way to large numbers of calls to police. Many of the women who were murdered had a history of telling friends they felt unsafe, filing protective orders, and were making futile attempts to stay separated from their male partner. This is a troubling trend that we need to be aware of and known how to respond because chances are good that you know someone who is victim to a violent partner. In this episode we offer ways that we can be involved. We cannot wait to make a police report after the fact. When we know there is violence, we should begin advocating for victims.Jimmy’s book, The Devil Inside:How My Minister Father Molested Kids In Our Home and Church for Decades and How I Finally Stopped Himhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/1950948617/ref=cm_sw_su_dpSupport us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/SpeakingOutFind us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/jimmyhintonauthorhttps://www.facebook.com/SilentGriefSupportAnd Twitter:https://twitter.com/JimmyHinton12https://twitter.com/clarahintonIntro-- Film Glitch by Snowflake (c) copyright 2017 Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial (3.0) license. http://dig.ccmixter.org/files/snowflake/56350 Ft: reusenoiseOutro-- I Have Often Told You Stories (guitar instrumental) by Ivan Chew (c) copyright 2013 Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution (3.0) license. http://dig.ccmixter.org/files/ramblinglibrarian/41284
