#5 - Dr. Francis Halzen - Detecting Neutrinos, MultiMessenger Astronomy, and The IceCube Neutrino Observatory

The State of The Universe - A podcast by Brendan Drachler

Dr. Francis Halzen is a Professor of Physics at The University of Wisconsin - Madison and the principal investigator of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and earlier this year his name was attached to an incredible discovery and advancement for the field of astrophysics.  In July 2018, IceCube announced that they have traced an extremely-high-energy neutrino that hit their detector in September 2017 back to its point of origin. The specifics are mentioned in the discussion. This is the first time that a neutrino detector has been used to locate an object in space.
