Michael's response to the tragedy led him to the US Air Force, where he completed Officer Training School and specialized Navigator training, becoming an Electronic Warfare Officer on the EC-130H Compass Call mission. Six deployments between 2005 and 2009 exposed him to the realities of the Global War on Terror, solidifying his commitment to his fellow servicemen and women. His 2010 medical retirement marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.Continuing his dedication to service, Michael transitioned to a US Army contractor role, tirelessly advocating for wounded warriors and ensuring their entitled benefits. His commitment to justice and fairness remained unwavering, showcasing his genuine care for those he served.Michael's profound curiosity for science and the human body remained a driving force. He seized the opportunity to pursue nursing, using his GI Bill to graduate in 2020, adding to his already impressive academic achievements including a B.A. in Psychology, a B.S. in Biology, an M.S. in Management, a Masters in Health Administration, and a M.S. in Nursing. These credentials are a testament to his unquenchable thirst for learning.Today, Michael serves as a Registered Nurse at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where his unique blend of military discipline, compassion, and scientific understanding has a profound impact. In parallel, his creative endeavor, Dow Creative Enterprises, LLC, shines. At its heart is the Nurse Florence® project, a series of books designed to promote science and health literacy among children while embodying teamwork, inclusion, faith, and perseverance. These qualities, Michael believes, can empower us to confront challenges collectively and elevate society.Recognition for Michael's work has come in the form of prestigious awards. His book "Nurse Florence, Help I’m Bleeding" received the Silver Nautilus Book award in 2020, while "A Prayer to Our Father in the Heavens: Possibly the Greatest Jewish Prayer of All Time" was an Award-Winning Finalist in the 2021 International Book Awards' Religion category.Michael's journey reinforces his conviction that the convergence of science and faith is essential to navigate future obstacles.
